Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Master of Arts in Theology at Bethany Seminary.
I work with several models of therapy; Clinical, Pastoral, and Clinical Pastoral combined. Even though my primary spiritual background is Christianity and 12 Step Spirituality, I have worked with Jewish, Muslim, and clients of other faiths who want their spiritual values and system included in their work with a counselor.
The spiritual aspects of mental health are considered in therapy only at the request of the client.
I have significant interest in the issues that clients have when they have been harmed or traumatized by religious persons, ideas and institutions. My Spiritual counseling work often includes the practice of relaxation and meditative therapies.
I use a strengths based approach that acknowledges the client’s ability to be an active part of the therapeutic team. Your relationship to your living environment, family and friends, work and career are all considered as we work together on your goals. I also work with clients on with both substance and “soft” addiction issues.
I have experience in a wide area of communities and cultures.
I have worked with inner city youth, rural youth and adults, urban adults and families, and educational and relationship based groups I work with clients and families in LGBTQ issues of coming out, family acceptance, personality and sexual development, minority related mental health issues, religious trauma, and gender identity concerns.
I am available for individual, couples of all compositions, family and group therapy. I also offer seminars on Spirituality and Mental Health, Sexuality issues, and mental health retreats.
