Marriage and Family Therapist

Location: Chicago

Hi! My name is Carolyn Cole and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist.  I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Masters Degree in Family Therapy.  I also have a Bachelors Degree in Rehabilitation Services, and a minor in music, from Penn State University.

I have 11 years of experience working in the mental health field, in hospital, residential, and community based settings.   I have worked with men, women, children, adolescents, families, and couples.  Additionally, I have experience working with adults diagnosed with a mental illness.

My goal as your therapist is to help you to create and live the dreams you envision for yourself.  I want to challenge you to visualize who you want to become, what you want for yourself, and how we can work together to get you to that place.

I see therapy as a partnership, where you are the expert on your life, and I have tools to guide you. I will strive to ensure our session time is a comfortable and non-threatening environment and that we are working on the areas that are important to you.

I also understand that sometimes, it can be difficult to verbally express your concerns or needs in therapy.  I have found that the expressive arts can be a powerful source of healing and I have experience using strategies such as writing, art, music, and play therapies.

I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

“You can’t go back and make a brand new start, but you can start from now and make a brand new ending”

~ Carl Bard.

I look forward to our therapeutic journey together.

Carolyn Cole
