Our therapists come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and some speak more than one language. Currently we provide counseling in English, Russian and Spanish.
Ethnic minority groups, such as Asians for example, are less likely to seek and utilize therapeutic services. This is often the case because they often feel misunderstood and others may not feel comfortable with a therapist who is not familiar with their ethnicity. But at the Ardent Center, there are therapists available who are familiar with multicultural therapy and can guide these individuals through their struggles.
Multicultural therapy is inclusive of variables such as, but not limited to, ethnicity, religion, race, language, gender, socioeconomic status and education.
During multicultural therapy, the therapist must be cognizant and skilled in the areas of cultural awareness, competence and knowledge.
A multicultural counselor also empathically understands what it is like to be a person from a different background aside from their own.
If you are an individual of a different ethnicity, culture or religion you should take advantage of multicultural therapy.
