Individual conditions

We provide help with a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to):

  • educational/cognitive issues
  • psychological and traumatic issues and other areas of clinical attention
  • medical conditions which affect psychological or family related concerns (or visa versa, psychological issues, which effect medical conditions)
  • work, school and life transitions.

Note: These therapy areas are also sometimes explored as part of marriage therapy and family therapy as the need arises.

Academic / educational / cognitive issues

These can include things such as:

  • Academic concerns
  • Attention-Deficit Disorders (ADD) (how it affects your learning, as well as your interactions with others)
  • Communication Disorders and the psychological stress that comes from having and dealing with such disorders
  • Giftedness
  • Learning Disorders (LD) and the psychological stress that comes from having and dealing with such disorders
  • Mixed educational/cognitive profiles such as being Gifted and having a Learning Disorder etc (see How multiple conditions can impact each other? for further details)
  • Mixed educational/cognitive profiles and psychological (or psycho-social) issues etc (see How multiple conditions can impact each other? for further details)
  • And many other educational/psychological concerns that affect children, adolescents and adults.

In terms of the educational psychological services that we provide, it is not just education about various conditions and how to address them but also learning how to think, act and know yourself and others in a more encompassing and productive way.

Traumatic issues such as:

  • Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD)
  • Physical, sexual and emotional abuse and the resulting PTSD and other conditions
  • Death, dying and grief
  • Other life span developmental traumas.

We use a method of working with a traumatic experience called Rapid Trauma Resolution where you can work on healing deeply disturbing events and subsequent difficulties without being re-traumatized.

It eliminates the ongoing influence from traumatic events even when they are repressed or forgotten. Otherwise these "ghosts from the past" can fuel emotional problems and destructive behavior patterns.

Like a pebble dropped in a pond, the ripples go out, and then reverberate back in upon themselves, triggering more and more difficulties. This process resolves the inciting event, and then calms and resolves all the other resulting disturbances.
